Parent Volunteer Commitment COVID-19 UPDATE: I am waiting to hear what the guidelines will be when preschools are allowed to reopen, I am not sure at this time what parent volunteering will look like. I will keep everyone posted as I hear more information. Due to the needs of young children it is important to keep the ratio of adults to children low so everyone's needs are met and safety is the top priority. This follows the Government Licensing guidelines of 1 adult for every 8 children.
The volunteer commitment at our preschool is fairly small but important. Each parent/grandparent/significant adult, will need to commit to approximately one class every 6 weeks to help in the classroom. Opportunities will also arise for field trips & celebration days and extra parent helpers will be required for these special days. Volunteers will be required to provide a clear Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector, prior to volunteering. There are no fundraising obligations. Any fundraising will be done voluntarily.
Examples of help volunteers may provide: -supervising a small group of students in the classroom -escorting students to the washroom -assisting students participating in a craft/project -wiping down tables before and after snack -reading stories to children -preparation of materials (cutting, setting out craft supplies)
As a parent, I understand your time with your child may be limited due to busy schedules, older and younger children, work and responsibilities at home. For this reason, I want your time spent in Preschool to be quality time spent as much with, and near your child as possible.
